The City of Glendale California’s Police Department did not have its own home until Raymond Jones and Marion Varner designed an elegant police headquarters in 1960. Unexpectedly, the police department outgrew the structure by 1990 and hung in there until 2003. I ventured into the vacated building and was struck by the cramped feeling and quaint looking artifacts. Some original signs have wisely been placed in the Glendale Police Museum and have been replaced on site by reproductions. The building is a mid-20th century icon and a popular filming location.
